“Conversations for Life” restores the lost art of conversation. Book #1: “The Beginning of Everything from Genesis through Deuteronomy” is now available for download. It is designed to be used with youth from ages 8 - 16 yrs. old. It is formatted for use in classrooms, homeschool settings, youth groups, and family devotions. It is aligned with a Classical educational philosophy.
Our culture is familiar with the art of teaching - giving information in a way that encourages the recipient to learn a fact or principle. We have lost the art of talking - sharing our individual ideas and opinions with one another in an enjoyable, conversational way in order to promote critical thinking and develop sound reasoning.
Talking is essential to faith development. So much so, God instructs believers to talk with their children throughout the day about God’s Word. “And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your home, and when you walk by the way; and when you lie down, and when you rise.” (Deut. 6:6-7)
Faith-based teaching and faith-based talking have a purpose. In Deuteronomy 6:6-7, the Hebrew word for “teach” literally means to point, or pierce. This teaching has a goal in mind - to point out something specific, piercing through many things, to point out a certain thing. The Hebrew word for “talk” literally means to arrange. This talking has a goal in mind - to help the listener arrange, then re-arrange, their thoughts and ideas through critical thinking in order to form logical reasoning.
In “Conversations for Life” the hard work has been done for you with lesson plans giving you the biblical background to teach and talk your way through the Bible with ease and consistency. You choose the setting and you choose the youth, then enjoy watching God use His Word, together with your conversations, to bring life to young lives.
